Though traditional enormous steins full of beer and biergartens are so characteristic of Germany, while they can be found in Berlin, are neither ubiquitous nor the norm. Berlin has a little of everything of course, but this city has a major draw on artists, intellectuals & fashion-designers which gives the bar scene a more bohemian feel in many neighbourhoods like Prenzlauer Berg and Friedrichshain. Mitte was once the scene of hipsters and artists, but today has been gentrified and is a bit more trendy, with the fashion crowd congregating in this area on Oranienburger Strasse or Hackescher Markt.
